And last night the PFA called for a government enquiry into racism within football.
Tottenham and Chelsea united to condemn the ‘sickening’ abuse and Spurs launched an investigation into the incident which came minutes after Son Heung-min was sent off for kicking out at Rudiger.
Rudiger tweeted: “It is really sad to see racism again at a football match, but I think it’s very important to talk about it in public.
“If not, it will be forgotten again in a couple of days as always. I don’t want to involve Tottenham as an entire club into this situation as I know that just a couple of idiots were the offenders.
“I got a lot of supportive messages on social media from Spurs fans as well in the last hours — thank you a lot for this
“I really hope that the offenders will be found and punished soon.
“And in such a modern ground like the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with dozens of TV and security cameras, it must be possible to find and subsequently punish them.

The Professional Footballers’ Association are determined to make a stand.
It released a statement saying: “We believe the time has come for all governing bodies to unite collectively to end this abuse.
“The PFA calls for a government enquiry into racism and the rise in hate crime within football.”
Speaking on Sky Sports, pundit Gary Neville criticised those involved in the racist abuse, saying: "How long before the players take matters into their own hands?
"If they walked off, could you blame them? No."When it happens in other countries, we rightly scream for punishment, but we should scream equally as loud in this country. It's not just about football."
Later he added: "We have a racism problem in England. The Premier League has to stand up. They hide behind the FA.
"We just had a general election in this country with both leaders accused of fuelling racism in their parties.
"If it's accepted in the highest office in the country, it's a far bigger problem (than one individual).
"We maybe have to empower the players to walk off the pitch to stop the entertainment.
"The PFA have to act, they have to protect players in this country, players are receiving abuse and that's unacceptable.
"Stop pointing the finger towards the Spanish and Bulgarian FA, and sort out your own house."
