Singer Tom Parker on BBC Breakfast  Brain Tumour Research

17 September 2021

Singer Tom Parker has spoken movingly on BBC Breakfast this morning about the impact his glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) diagnosis has had on him.

He spoke with great honesty about his chemotherapy regime, his diet and the loneliness serious illness can lead to. He also spoke of his love for his family and the support of his bandmates from The Wanted.

This is ahead of Monday night’s concert at the Royal Albert Hall, where The Wanted will be playing alongside a galaxy of musical stars, including Liam Payne and Ed Sheeran. Brain Tumour Research has been supporting a film that is being made about Tom’s brain tumour journey, and we are very proud to have been invited to attend Monday’s event.

Also part of the BBC Breakfast interview was consultant medical oncologist Dr Paul Mulholland from University College London Hospitals, who made the case for more clinical trials into brain tumours, more support from the pharmaceutical industry and, particularly in the case of GBM where the prognosis can be devastatingly bleak, greater collaborative effort for change.

This was an inspirational piece and we applaud Tom’s courage and Dr Mulholland’s commitment to making a difference for brain tumour patients.
