Manchester City and Sevilla go toe-to-toe on Wednesday night in Piraeus, Greece for the UEFA Super Cup. The showpiece contest will be played at the Stadio Georgios Karaiskakis which is the home of Olympiacos.

Pep Guardiola's side head into the meeting as the reigning Champions League winners after they successfully defeated Inter Milan 1-0 in Istanbul back in June to win their first ever European crown.

Now the two sides collide for a chance to pick up some early-season silverware and given this is a competition Man City are yet to win, Pep Guardiola will be keen to ensure his side continue to write further history.

City will be without the injured Kevin De Bruyne who suffered a "serious" hamstring problem against Burnley and could miss up to four months of action.

"We have to decide if he needs surgery or no surgery but he will be out for a few months," Guardiola said of the Belgian.

"The decision on surgery will be taken in the coming days and could see him miss three or four months."

Meanwhile, City stalwart Rodri, who netted the winner in the Champions League final, says his team-mates have the desire to win every trophy up for grabs.

"We have to arrive with desire like we did our last finals," said the Spain international maestro.

"In the last finals we showed the level of hunger."

Sevilla's La Liga campaign started on a real sour note as they were defeated 2-1 by Valencia on home soil.

The Andalusian side have lost a cluster of players and are under financial pressure to continue offloading stars from their Europa League-winning squad.
