Selena Gomez Swapped Nude Nails For This Classic Winter ...

Given that she's been extremely busy attending tons of awards shows and press engagements to promote her movie Emilia Pérez and TV series Only Murders in the Building, it makes a ton of sense that Selena Gomez has been sticking to more neutral manicure shades. They're incredibly versatile! But for the BAFTA Film Awards in London, the star gave her go-to nudes and sheer pinks the night off in favor of one of the most classic winter mani colors—one that just so happens to be super trendy at the moment.
The actor glittered on the red carpet in custom Schiaparelli and needed a luxurious, show-stopping manicure to match, so she and her nail artist Tom Bachik landed on—what else!—deep, rich, romantic red.

Bachik shaped Gomez's nails into medium-length almonds, then applied a basecoat and two coats of CND Shellac Needles & Red, a gorgeous garnet shade. To seal in the color and shine, he then applied a layer of the classic Shellac Top Coat, plus some cuticle oil to ensure her nails looked hydrated and healthy. If you looked up the word “glamour” in the dictionary, you'd probably see a photo of this manicure. (The diamond rings and bracelets don't hurt either.)
You may be thinking, “Dark red nails for winter? Groundbreaking.” I totally get it! But the dark cherry nail, as timeless as it is, is having a major moment in 2025. Pinterest spotlighted the cherry in their 2025 trend report, saying that the juicy color would make its way into our makeup routines and wardrobes alike. “It's elegant, it's sophisticated, it's daringly chic,” Los Angeles-based nail artist Sarah Chue told Allure. “I think it's so popular because it pairs well with various skin tones and clothing.” The color recently popped up on another of Bachik's celebrity clients, the one and only Jennifer Lopez; the two called their version “chocolate cherry.” Given that we've still got a few more weeks of winter to go, there's no better time to satisfy your cherry cravings.
