Al-Ittihad are set to launch a bid worth £118m for Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, testing the Reds’ resolve to keep hold of their star man.

After a wild summer of spending in the Saudi Pro League, Al-Ittihad are planning to make the biggest signing so far by bringing in the 31-year-old Egyptian.

Liverpool have insisted that Salah is not for sale and manager Jurgen Klopp would be left furious if the hierarchy are tempted to cash in on the forward, but they will be tested by the giant bid that is incoming.

The Daily Mail report that a bid of £150m (£118m) is set to be made for Salah from Al-Ittihad as Saudi Pro League chief executive Saad al-Lazeez bases himself in Cannes, France for the rest of the transfer window.

The transfer window in England closes on 1 September, but the window in Saudi Arabia remains open until 20 September, allowing the Saudi Pro League clubs more time to get deals done.

Not only will Liverpool be offered an enormous transfer fee, but Salah will also have the chance to earn vastly increased wages, but Klopp insists the Egyptian will not eb sold this summer.

Speaking last week, the German said there have been no offers yet, and if any were to come in then they would be rejected.

‘It’s a bit difficult to talk about media stories because there is nothing to talk about,’ Klopp said of Salah’s links to Saudi Arabia.

‘We don’t have an offer. He’s a Liverpool player. To all the things we do he is essential, he was and will be, there is nothing there. If there was something, the answer would be no.

‘In my life, I think about a problem when I have it. There’s nothing at the moment. When something comes up then I can think about it. If there would be something, there is a no.’
