The biggest day in the calendar for all golf fans Has arrived, with Augusta National playing host to the opening round of the 2024 edition of the Masters Tournament.
The best players from both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf have reunited at the iconic Georgia course this week, with the sport's most coveted prize up for grabs. LIV star Jon Rahm is the man defending the green jacket this time around, but will face firm competition from in-form world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.
All eyes will also no doubt be on Rory McIlroy, as the Northern Irishman begins his quest to end his 10-year wait for a major title and win his first ever Masters title to complete the career Grand Slam.

Frustration for McIlroy
The breaks on Rory McIlroy's have been halted late on. Heading to the 16th green he looked set to move to three-under-par with two holes to play, but a missed short putt at 16 and a bogey at 17 leaves him at one-under heading to 18.
Bryson backs up comments
Bryson DeChambeau's infamous 'par-67' comments in regard to Augusta National have haunted him in recent years...
The LIV Golf star went some way to backing up his claims on Thursday though, after carding a seven-under-par 65.

He is keen to chase down Bryson DeChambeau's lead, and has moved within one shot after landing birdies at the par-five 15th and par-three 16th to move to six-under-par with two holes to play...

The American has been out of soughts so far today, heading down the 17th fairway at one-over-par. He quickly put himself into the red though, after holing out for eagle from 146 yards.
McIlroy makes his move
Much better from Rory McIlroy. He holes a second birdie in three holes with a solid putt at the par-four 13th to move to two-under-par for the tournament, five back of leader Bryson DeChambeau.
Scheffler takes advantage of major break

The world No. 1 looked as if he had found the creek at the par-five 13th with his second shot, but just caught the soft upper-lip. In typical Scheffler fashion he takes full advantage, going up-and-down to add his fourth birdie of the day.

After finding the back bunker at the par-three 12th, Scheffler showed exactly why he is world No. 1 by holing out his shot from the sand for his third birdie of the day.

The LIV Golf star has had plenty of struggles around the Georgia course in recent years, but he has come into his own today. Three birdies in four holes between the 12th and 15th has seen him move two clear at the top at six-under-par.

Scottie Scheffler has added birdie No. 2 to his scorecard for the day, after rolling in an impressive putt at the fifth. He moves to two-under for the event, three behind leader Ryan Fox who is in trouble at the 13th.

And just as he gets himself back to level, Rory McIlroy once again finds himself over-par.
