Mollie King cheers on fiancé Stuart Broad with daughter Annabella
The expressive fast bowler has announced his retirement after today’s match

The BBC Radio 1 presenter was seen cradling their eight-month-old daughter Annabella at The Oval for the fifth and final Ashes test of the series.

The Saturdays star appeared in good spirits on the Oval balcony with their little one as they watched the England cricketer take to the field for the last time after a 17-year-long career.

The 36-year-old’s appearance at the sporting event comes as the England bowler announced he would retire from Test cricket following the Ashes.

He made the announcement at stumps on day three of the final Test against Australia at the Kia Oval.

Ahead of his final test, King paid tribute to her other half and all he has achieved in a heartwarming Instagram post on Sunday.

Sharing a photo of him in his cricket gear, King wrote: “What a moment @stuartbroad – your last test!

“My darling, you’ve brought joy to so many cricketing fans all over the world, and especially to your family.

“We have loved every single minute of cheering you on and we’re so incredibly proud of you. Watching you live out your dream has been something I will never forget.

“Annabella and I will be cheering you and the team on today, as always. We love you so much.”

Broad, who got engaged to King in 2021, will go down as one of England’s greatest ever cricketers.

He became just the fifth man in history to pass 600 Test wickets earlier in this summer’s series and also became only the second fast bowler to reach the landmark, after long-time teammate James Anderson.

The seamer has saved many of his best performances for Australia, including his famous career-best spell of eight-for-15 at Trent Bridge in 2015, and became England’s most prolific Ashes wicket-taker during the Fourth Test at Old Trafford, when his 149th scalp took him past Ian Botham’s record.

Broad made his Test debut in Sri Lanka in 2007 and is currently in the midst of his 167th Test, with his wickets tally at 602 and counting ahead of Australia’s second innings at the Oval.

Broad has defied even his own expectations by featuring in all five Tests for a fifth consecutive home Ashes series, with England having not faced Australia here without the Nottinghamshire bowler since the famous 2005 series.

His 20 wickets in the current series are the most of any English bowler and he could yet finish as the overall leading wicket-taker, with Mitchell Starc currently heading the standings on 23.

Following a 17-year career on the field, he will now join Sky Sports’ commentary team.
