Matt Hancock 'set to join ITV I'm A Celebrity 2022' after full line-up confirmed

Matt Hancock set to join ITV Im A Celebrity 2022 after full lineup confirmed
The 2022 line-up was officially confirmed by ITV on Monday evening

Matt Hancock is reportedly set to swap the House of Commons for the jungle as it is claimed he'll be this year's late addition to I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! The 2022 line-up was officially confirmed by ITV on Monday evening (October 31) with just days to go until the series hits screens.

I'm A Celeb will be premiering on Sunday, November 6, at 9pm, with a 105-minute special. The start date has been moved and is slightly earlier than usual to avoid a clash with the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off in Qatar on Sunday, November 20.

Coronation Street’s Sue Cleaver, reality TV star Olivia Attwood, radio DJ Chris Moyles, rugby star and royal Mike Tindall, and Loose Women star Charlene White are just some of those who have headed to Australia as the ITV reality show returns to its spiritual home after two years of being filmed in the UK.

Making up this year's batch of campmates are Boy George, Hollyoaks’ Owen Warner, TV presenter and property expert Scarlette Douglas, former footballer Jill Scott and comedian Babatunde Aleshe.

But while the ten named celebrities will go into I'm A Celeb this Sunday when the new series starts, Matt, 44, is reportedly set to be one of two latecomers who'll go into the camp. The other is comedian Seann Walsh, 36, who was included in the rumoured line-up as the stars landed at Brisbane Airport last week.

A TV insider told The Sun: "Matt is a sensational signing for the show as producers love a star with a story to tell - and they always hope they'll spill the beans round the campfire.

"He's the latest in a long line of figures from the political sphere, including MP Nadine Dorries, Stanley Johnson and MP Lembit Opik. There's been a question mark over who the twelfth campmate would be, partly because negotiations over Matt going in were so top secret. It seems Matt was a last-minute signing."

Matt Hancock is the UK's former Health Secretary who resigned from his role after he breached social distancing guidance issued to the public during the coronavirus pandemic by kissing a colleague.

The Manchester Evening News has contacted ITV for comment.
