Kylian Mbappé (24) said that he will remain at Paris Saint-Germain next season, whilst also seeming to confirm that his contract does end at the end of the 2023/24 season. 

The contours of the France captain’s deal are slightly vaguely outlined. According to reporting by L’Équipe, Mbappé’s deal ends next summer, but he has the possibility of extending it by a further year. Mbappé reportedly has until the end of July this year to trigger that extension. 

Whilst Mbappé has confirmed that he will remain with PSG next season, L’Équipe report that he won’t trigger the one-year extension, opening up the possibility of a free transfer at the end of next season. 

Speaking after winning Ligue 1 Player of the Year at Sunday night’s UNFP awards, Mbappé responded once again to links to Real Madrid. “I am here to talk about the trophy. Next season I’ll be playing at PSG. I have one year left on my contract and I’m going to honour my contract,” said the Frenchman in a mixed-zone interview at the UNFP Awards.

Mbappé also said that both collectively and individually, this season was “a success” given that PSG wrapped up the Ligue 1 title with one game to go, and given his current position at the top of the goalscorer standings. Going into the final gameweek, Mbappé (28) has one goal more than Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette (27).
