British No.1 Katie Boulter sailed through to the second round at Wimbledon with an impressive 7-6(4), 6-2 win over Australia’s Daria Saville.

Boulter will face Viktoriya Tomova, who defeated world No.27 Bernarda Pera in three sets.

The 26-year-old will be looking to equal her career-best third round at Wimbledon, which she achieved for the first time last year.

"I'm super happy with today," Boulter said. "It was not easy conditions - there was a lot going on. I really had to work hard to focus on myself and stay in the moment.

"I live for these matches, whether it's against me or with me, it does get the best out of me. It's great to have the British crowd behind us."

It was also announced today that Boulter will join forces with boyfriend Alex de Minaur in the mixed doubles this year.

"I think it's going to be a experience, it's going to test our relationship," she joked. "I don't doubt that for a minute. No, it's a totally different vibe going on the court with him. I think we bring the best out of each other, in terms of tennis, on and off the court. I think we're going to have a couple smiles on our faces, enjoying ourselves."

Returning to finish their match on day three, after rain suspended play at 5-6 on Tuesday, Boulter and Saville quickly found themselves locked in a tie-break on Court 18. After the Aussie took a 4-2 lead in the breaker, Boulter shifted to a whole new gear, relentlessly attacking and sealing five consecutive points with an inch perfect volley on set point.

Into the second set and Brit continued on her assertion. Once she broke in the third game, there was no stopping the Rothesay Open Nottingham champion as she ripped off 16 winners in the second set to seal the victory in an hour and 55 minutes.

However, British No.2 Jodie Burrage went out in the second round to world No.10 Daria Kasatkina 6-0, 6-2. Burrage finishes he grass court season currently inside the WTA top 100 in the live rankings and having made her first WTA final in Nottingham.
