JOTA last night signed for mega-rich Saudi Arabia club Al-Ittihad in a staggering £200,000-a-week deal.

The Celtic star was unveiled after completing his record-equalling £25million move.

Jota, 24, passed a Dubai medical before penning a three-year deal - which will net him a life-changing £30m in wages.

The transfer fee equals Celtic's Scottish record sale of Kieran Tierney to Arsenal in 2019.

The Hoops confirmed Jota's departure with a short statement and video on the club website shortly before 10pm.

It concluded: "Everyone at Celtic Football Club wishes Jota success in his future career."

Jota will join French stars Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante in Nuno Espirito Santo’s Al-Ittihad squad.

The Saudis released their own bizarre video to announce the signing - with an animated Nuno claiming Jota would help them "rule the world".

Brendan Rodgers wanted to keep the Portuguese star but Celtic couldn’t stand in his way after Al-Ittihad made their move.

Boss Nuno has wanted the former Benfica winger for a year and is on the brink of finally getting his man.

Celtic have banked a massive transfer fee for Jota - 12 months after paying around £6.5m to sign him permanently.

But Benfica are due a 30 per cent cut of the profit as part of a sell-on fee they negotiated last summer.

Jota, who won five trophies in two years at Celtic, will team up with Al-Ittithad ahead of their pre-season starting on July 10.

Some of his Hoops team-mates reported back to Lennoxtown for training at the start of the week - with international players given an extra few days off.

Fitness guru Glen Driscoll, who has worked with the Celtic boss for the last two decades, has also been brought back on board.

Brendan Rodgers’ players will train locally until this weekend when they head to Portugal for a pre-season camp.

Captain Callum McGregor and other international stars will be back with the squad for that trip.

Rodgers has already spent £4m to snap Norwegian midfielder Odin Thiago Holm and Australian winger Marco Tilio.

But more new arrivals are set to follow - with Jota’s massive transfer fee set to strengthen Celtic’s spending power.

Gangwon winger Yang Hyun-jun remains a target and is locked in a battle with his club chiefs.

The South Korean winger has been blocked from joining Celtic - and has made a plea to be allowed to leave.

Meanwhile, Hoops kid Adam Montgomery has joined Fleetwood Town on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old left-back will be bossed by former Hoops and Aberdeen team-mate Scott Brown.

Montgomery spent last season on loan at St Johnstone and Rodgers is keen for him to get more experience.
