Padel's Hexagon Cup lands ITV rights deal in UK SportsPro
The Hexagon Cup padel tournament has netted a UK broadcast rights deal with commercial network ITV.
Contract:
- Tournament’s semi-finals and finals to be broadcast live on ITV’s streaming service ITVX
- Highlights show will air on linear channel ITV4
Context:
ITV’s interest in showing padel highlights the growing interest in the sport. The Hexagon Cup will see six teams divided into two qualifying groups and compete in a series of head-to-head matchups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the finals. The tournament has a €1 million (US$1.09 million) prize fund.
Tennis icons Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal, as well as Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski and US actress Eva Longoria, have teams in the Hexagon Cup.
