Holly Willoughby addressed marriage struggle before family move
Holly Willoughby has revealed the challenges in her 14-year marriage to TV producer Dan Baldwin, sharing how they've grown stronger by overcoming rough patches.

For over a decade, Holly Willoughby and her husband of 14 years, TV producer Dan Baldwin, have enjoyed a blissful marriage. However, the former This Morning presenter recently opened up about the hidden challenges in their relationship, revealing how they’ve navigated rough patches to come out stronger as a couple.

Speaking at An Evening With Holly Willoughby in London to promote her wellness brand Wylde Moon last year, Holly, 43, surprised fans with candid revelations about their marriage. She admitted that striving to be “perfect” had left her feeling “detached from reality” and that learning to express her emotions openly had been a turning point.

“What I’ve found is that, a lot of the time, we like to stay in the safe middle ground, where everything is nice and smiley and nothing is ugly,” she said. “But when I started to reconnect [with my emotions], I found I was getting angry all the time. And Dan’s like, ‘I wish you could not be so angry.’”

Instead of resorting to the silent treatment during disagreements, the Dancing on Ice co-host explained how she now prefers to “rip the band-aid off” and confront issues head-on.

“It was scary and frightening [at first], but I thought, ‘Let’s just stick with it and see where it goes.’ And now I love it! Because talking through your problems can take you months or weeks, but in a hot flash of anger, you’ll shout something, and rip the band-aid off. You don’t have to be afraid of it or be scared by it.”

The couple, who share three children, Harry, 14, Belle, 12, and Chester, 8, first met in 2004 while working on ITV’s Ministry of Mayhem.

They married in 2007 at Amberley Castle in Sussex. Holly reflected on the reality of marriage, admitting in her memoir, Reflections: “If I’m watching something on TV and my husband suddenly asks: ‘Why are you watching this s**t?’ it’ll spark something deep inside and I will get disproportionately angry about it.”

This past year has been tumultuous for the British TV favourite. From the fallout of her co-host Phillip Schofield’s dramatic exit from This Morning to a terrifying kidnapping plot, the presenter has faced enormous challenges.

She and her family recently made the difficult decision to move house for safety reasons. A source revealed, “They no longer felt safe in their old house, and this new place feels like the fresh start they all need.”

Despite the upheaval, Holly is optimistic about the future. She is set to return to screens in 2025 with major projects, including a reboot of You Bet! with Stephen Mulhern, ITV’s Dancing on Ice, and Netflix’s Bear Hunt.

Insiders describe her as “stronger than ever” thanks to her family’s unwavering support. “Holly can’t wait to get back to doing what she loves,” a source added. “She’s determined to never go back to those dark days and is ready for this exciting new chapter.”
