Gujarat were the table toppers in the league stage of IPL 2023 with ten wins out of 14 games, while Mumbai somehow managed to scrape through to the playoffs with eight wins out of 14. Yet, today, both teams stand on an equal footing as they gear up to face each other in the Qualifier of IPL 2023.

The match will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The winning team will qualify for the Final against Chennai Super Kings, scheduled to be played here on Sunday (May 28), while the losing team will get knocked out.

Both teams have played one playoff game each so far. Gujarat are coming off the back of a defeat, while Mumbai are coming into the game after a one-sided victory in the Eliminator.

Both teams won their respective home games when they faced each other during the league stage of IPL 2023. This is going to be another home game for Gujarat, but given Mumbai’s momentum and Gujarat’s last-minute changes to the team combination, Mumbai look like the better-placed side at the moment.

Mumbai’s middle order will hold the key once again, with the likes of Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma being the players to watch out for.

Akash Madhwal has made a name for himself over the last few weeks. There will be lots of eyes on him as well, as will be on Mohammed Shami and the Afghan spin duo of Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad for Gujarat.
