Green goes huge as the batsman dispatches Noor Ahmad for a maximum over the cow corner and the fifty-run partnership comes up between Surya and Green in just 30 balls.

Surya plays a brilliant inside-out shot for a boundary and then got himself into a great position by dispatching the bowler to the deep mi-wicket boundary to keep Mumbai in the hunt. Green then went for a backfoot punch to pocket 15 runs off Rashid’s over.

Green gets into the act with a brilliant six over the deep mid-wicket and Mumbai at this stage is ahead by 16 runs when compared to Gujarat but they need a partnership and this could be Surya’s night to play a blinder.

A wonderful drive through the extra cover region gets Surya going but Rashid pulls back things with brilliant control over line and length as Mumbai needs 149 runs in 71 balls.

Just five runs from Noor Ahmad’s first over and Green is back in the middle to join Surya. It will be a very important partnership and Mumbai’s hopes of qualifying to the final lies on these two players.

Rashid Khan strikes and the leg spinner picks the prized wicket of Tilak Varma who falls for a brilliant 14-ball 43. Gujarat pulling things back after surviving a Varma assault.

Tilak Varma is making a statement as the batsman pockets a hat-trick of boundaries and brings the fifty-up for Mumbai and Mumbai is up and running in this run chase. Make that four boundaries as Tilak has set a batting exhibition and the shot through the extra cover is the pick of the shot. A six over the mid-wicket and Shami leaks 24 runs to give Mumbai an advantage!

What a shot from Tilak Varma as he pulls Hardik Pandya over the deep for a maximum and that was one of the best shots in the tournament. Surya then brings his wrists to play to flick Hardik stylishly over the deep mid-wicket for a boundary.

Shami takes two and Rohit falls while trying to pull the fast bowler as he ends up getting a top-edge and Joshua Little settles underneath the skier to leave Mumbai two down. With Green retired hurt, Mumbai is in early trouble. Tilak Varma showcases his potential with a brilliant pick-up shot for a magnificent six over the deep square leg.

Hardik Pandya into the attack and Rohit welcomes the Gujarat skipper with a boundary to the fine leg. The bowler bowls the hard length and hurts Green with a 146kph delivery that hurt the batsman flush on his left elbow. Green is back in the hut and out walks Suryakumar Yadav. Hardik Pandya hammers Akash Madhwal for a six over the deep point and the bowler was in danger of being removed off the attack but survives the umpire’s call.

Tim David will be feeling hard for the drop catch as Gill continues to motor on this time smashing Akash Madhwal over the covers for a boundary. Gill was handed a chance when he was batting on 30 and the star batsman went on to score a century. Gill falls for a brilliant 60-ball 129 and it’s Tim David who latches on to the catch. An innings that was stitched with 10 sixes and seven boundaries, this was one of the best IPL knocks.

Gill is certainly in the zone as he opens the face of his bat to guide a Jordan low full toss through the backward point for a boundary and that shot has impressed everyone - right from Gavaskar to Hayden in the com box. Sudharshan then keeps the tempo going on with a pull over the deep mid-wicket and Gujarat is en route to post a huge score.

What a fantastic century from Gill - his third century of the season and he is now toying with the Mumbai bowlers. A six over the bowler’s head followed by a boundary in front of the square and then a flat six to keep Gujarat in front. Top batting.

A lofted drive from Sudharshan brings the southpaw to the party and that was a beautiful shot as the batsman hit the length delivery on the up and the ball sailed over the long-off for a maximum. Gill on 99 and Mumbai will look to pull back things.

Wow! We are watching something really special as Gill nails Chawla over the long-off for a maximum, then brings in the paddle for a boundary and then smokes the spinner for a huge 106-metre six over the long-on to move close to another IPL century.

Shubman Gill is motoring towards another IPL century with two sixes. The first one was with a flick over the backward square leg boundary and then pulled the fast bowler over the deep mid-wicket for a huge maximum. The beauty of Gill’s shot was a flick of the wrists for yet another maximum over the deep mid-wicket. Great batting as 21 runs come from the over.

Gill has teed off with a brilliant six straight down the track and Sudharshan exhibited his class with a boundary. Gill is two runs short of yet another half-century. Mumbai needs to make inroads.

Kumar Kartikeya into the attack and the spinner starts well by giving just five runs from his opening over. Shubman Gill was lucky as the opener survives a stumping chance and a shot that fell just short of the fielder at deep mid-wicket.

Fabulous ploy from Ishan Kishan and Piyush Chawla as the spinner foxes Saha by bowling down the leg side and the batsmen stepped out to attack but missed the ball and that’s fabulous work from Ishan Kishan who removed the bails in a flash. The breakthrough is achieved from Mumbai’s perspective as Sai Sudharsan joins Gill.

Gill welcomes Chris Jordan into the attack with a brilliant six over the deep square leg boundary and then gets his bottom hand into play to nail the bowler through the extra cover for a brilliant boundary. The fifty is up for Gujarat and Tim David dropped a catch at mid-on to hand Gill a life. The PowerPlay is done and dusted and Gujarat has made most of the the first six overs.

Gill continues his fine form as he hits Behrendorff for a boundary, exhibiting a fine glance through the fine leg and then Saha ends the over by smashing a boundary by dispatching Behrendorff to the deep backward square boundary.

Akash Madhwal at his best and a bouncer from the fast bowler hits the helmet of Saha after the batsman failed to connect a pull shot. The keeper-batsman however responds with a fine slash over point for a boundary.

Gill is up and running with a wonderful flick through the square leg and punishes Green for spraying on the pads. The man in form continues to rule the batting charts and gives Gujarat a sedate start.

Behrendorff begins proceedings for Mumbai with the new ball and the seamer will be looking for some swing as the pitch has been under the covers for a long time with rain delaying the toss. Both Saha and Gill are off the mark and it’s a cautious start from Gujarat.

Mumbai Indians wins toss, opts to bowl first vs Gujarat Titans

The rain has stayed away and Hardik Pandya has marked his run-up. Both Hardik and Rohit were involved in a long chat with Sachin Tendulkar checking out the strip along with Ashish Nehra. We are all set for the toss as Hardik gives an animated speech in the team huddle. All set for a high voltage clash!

The toss will take place at 7:45 PM and the match will start at 8:00 PM.

Positive signs from the stadium as the rain has relented and the players are out there in the middle going through their warm-ups. Gill and Ishan are involved in a friendly banter and we should have the toss soon. Ashish Nehra having a word with Gill. We are set for a blockbuster of a clash.
