Update: The time when the maintenance is expected to be complete has been updated.
In preparation for the new season, servers are down on Fortnite, the popular game from Epic games, for scheduled maintenance.
Here's what we know.
According to Epic Games, the server is down for scheduled maintenance (v29.00 update) ahead of the new season, which is why players may currently see an error if they try to access the game.
The maintenance was originally scheduled for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. UTC which is 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. EST but has since been pushed back. Fortnite Status on X, formerly Twitter, shared at 9:15 EST that another 8 hours would be needed to complete the update.
Users can continue to check the status of the update on their website status.epicgames.com.

Fortnite is a popular online game that can be played across different platforms including Android phones, PC, Xbox, PlayStation and others.
It was released in 2017 by Epic Games.
