ISLE OF WIGHT FOOTBALL ROUND UP: MATCH ABANDONED AS ...

Tragedy struck in the Harwoods Renault Isle of Wight Saturday League at the GKN Sports Ground in East Cowes with a serious injury to High Park full back Ben ‘Buzz’ Burrows.
Half an hour into the game, Ben went for a 50-50 ball against an East Cowes Sports player. Unfortunately, his leg was caught in the challenge, leading to its being fractured.
Up until this point in the game, the match had been played in a sporting fashion with no bad feelings between the 2 sides.

Following the incident, the game was abandoned and an ambulance called. Fortunately, the ambulance arrived within 15 minutes of the injury.
Ben spent the night in St Mary’s hospital with a broken leg.
At the time of the abandonment, the score was 1-1 with goals from ECS’ Shane Silk and a penalty from High Park’s Sam Woodmore.

Shanklin 1-2 VectisGoals from Jamie Barratt and Ben Cutts saw Vectis overcome Shanklin at the County Ground. Pete Wilson netted the Seasiders consolation goal.
Ventnor 1-5 Cowes Sports ReservesThe Yachtsmen continue to snap at the heels of league leaders W&B – who they trail on goal difference – with an emphatic 1-5 victory over Ventnor at Watcombe Bottom. Dan Pearson scored a hat-trick for the visitors with the remaining goals coming from Max Coshell and George Holmes.
West Wight 5-1 Northwood St JohnsWest Wight have gone 3rd in the Harwoods Renault Division 1 table after trouncing Northwood St Johns 5-1 at Camp Road courtesy of a Darren Williams hat trick and a brace from Chris Elliott.

Osborne Coburg v NewchurchThe Burg won their 1st competitive game of the season by beating Newchurch 5-0 courtesy of a Mark Taylor hat trick and further strikes from Liam Sumpter and Carl Phillipson.
