This Morning’s Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford are reportedly being replaced in their weekly slot by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.

Eamonn and Ruth, both 60, have been presenting the show for 14 years.

An insider said: ‘They have real warmth. It’s time for a change and they are perfect.’

They added to The Mirror: ‘Eamonn is pretty furious and everyone feels for him and Ruth, they are well liked on the team, but sometimes tough decisions have to be made.’

Alison, 45, and Dermot, 47, are said to have impressed bosses when they took over hosting duties this summer during Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s six-week break.

Former Big Brother contestant Alison has also been hosting segments for the show since 2003, and presented her own documentary Back To School earlier this year.

Dermot, meanwhile, is best known for presenting The X Factor.

Married couple Ruth and Eamonn first joined This Morning in 2006 and have been hosting the Friday programme ever since, with Holly, 39, and Phil, 58, presenting Monday to Thursday.

Earlier this year, it was rumoured that Eamonn and Ruth would be leaving the show, with the Irish star addressing the claims on Twitter.

Fans were worried about the fate of the two, with one tweeting: ‘Executives at @thismorning best not be trying to axe @EamonnHolmes and @RuthieeL to fill their diversity quota.

‘They’re brilliant hosts and nothing about the show needs changing! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! @ITV#ThisMorning#ITV ‘.

Eamonn saw the post and responded with the praying hands emoji.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
