Millions to receive DWP Cost of Living Payment from tomorrow
Millions of benefit claimants will soon start receiving the final instalment of the Cost of Living Payment.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will start issuing the £299 payment from Tuesday, February 6. It will see many people claiming means-tested benefits, such as Universal Credit, receive some extra cash to help tackle the cost of living crisis.
The payment will be automatically sent out by the DWP so those eligible will not need to send in an application in order to receive it. Many claimants will have already received a first instalment of £301 in April and a second instalment of £300 in October.

However, not everyone will be eligible for tomorrow's round of payments, even if they previously received it. To be eligible for the payment you must have received at least one of the following qualifying benefits between November 13 and December 12:
- Universal Credit
- Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Income Support
- Working Tax Credit
- Child Tax Credit
- Pension Credit
People who are on Tax Credits will be paid by HMRC, while people on other benefits will be paid by the DWP. The payment reference for bank accounts will be the recipient’s National Insurance Number followed by either DWP COL or HMRC COLS.
Previously, people on Tax Credits have had to wait longer for their payment, with the DWP processing its payments first, followed by HMRC on February 16.
