Every DWP cost of living payment and when you can expect to
Payments to be made later this year and next include the second and third instalments of the £900 cost of living support and a £300 payment to pensioners

People on low incomes are set to receive financial help through cost of living payments this year - here is a timetable of when to expect the money.

Those who receive certain disability benefits will get a £150 cost of living payment from next week as part of the Government's wider support package. It's the second payment out of five to be made since plans were announced to help struggling households.

Some of the most vulnerable people could receive as much as £1,350 in direct payments over this year and next. In spring, the first instalment of the £900 cost of living payment for people on benefits such as Universal Credit was made, and now the £150 disability payment is about to be sent out by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).

Other payments to be made later this year and next include the second and third instalments of the £900 cost of living payment and a £300 payment to pensioners, reports the Manchester Evening News. People who are eligible for cost of living payments do not need to apply as the money will be sent directly to bank accounts in the same way you usually receive your benefits.

Here is the full schedule so far for cost of living payments for the rest of 2023 and 2024.

£150 disability cost of living payment - June 20 to July 4

The DWP has announced that most people will be paid the £150 disability cost of living payment automatically between June 20 and July 4. You may be entitled to the payment if you’re getting any of any of the following benefits:

  • Attendance Allowance
  • Constant Attendance Allowance
  • Disability Living Allowance for adults
  • Disability Living Allowance for children
  • Personal Independence Payment
  • Adult Disability Payment (in Scotland)
  • Child Disability Payment (in Scotland)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment
  • War Pension Mobility Supplement

You must have received a payment of one of these benefits for April 1 to get the additional payment. Any missing payments should be reported after July 5, the DWP has said.

Second instalment of £900 cost of living payment - autumn 2023

The £900 payment to people on low-income benefits and tax credits is being paid in three instalments with the second one due in the autumn. The payment will be for £300 and will be sent to people receiving:

  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income Support
  • Pension Credit
  • Universal Credit
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Working Tax Credit

A date for payments to start is yet to be announced for 2023 but last year's calendar suggests the payment could be made in November. In 2022, cost of living payments were made in July and then again from November 8.

£300 pensioner cost of living payment - from November 2023

If you’re entitled to a Winter Fuel Payment for winter 2023 to 2024, you will get an extra £150 or £300 pensioner cost of living payment with your normal payment from November. The amount you get depends on when you were born and your circumstances during the qualifying dates.

According to the DWP, you can get a Winter Fuel Payment for winter 2023 to 2024 if you were born before 25 September 1957. Eligible people will be sent a letter in October or November saying how much Winter Fuel Payment they will get.

Third instalment of £900 cost of living payment - spring 2024

The final instalment of the £900 cost of living payment is set to be made next spring. A date has not yet been announced.

The third instalment will be for £299. The DWP has said that the £900 has been split into three different amounts - £301, £300 and £299 - to ensure it can keep track of who has been sent which payment.
