Chelsea will hope to extend their nine-match unbeaten run in all competitions when they face Brighton on their return to Premier League action on Saturday.

The game marks Graham Potter’s return to the south coast for the first time since jumping ship last month, and he will be hoping to pick up all three points over his former side as the Blues aim to move back into the top four.

As for the Seagulls, they are yet to win a single one of their five games since Potter departed, drawing two and losing three to drop down from fourth to ninth, but they would love nothing more than to get one over their former boss in this fixture.

Brighton vs Chelsea will kick-off at 3pm on Saturday, October 29 at the AMEX Stadium.

The last meeting between these two sides came back in January, as the Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by their hosts to drop more points in the Premier League title race.

Hakim Ziyech gave the visitors a half-time lead following his 28th minute strike but his side were pegged back when Adam Webster equalised on the hour mark. The Blues couldn’t find a way through for the remainder of the half and, in the end, the points were shared.

Brighton are winless in the five games since Potter left but Roberto De Zerbi’s side have put up a good fight against the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City in that time, and they’ll be hoping their hard work will finally pay off against the Blues.

The Seagulls will be better rested than their visitors after having no midweek duties, but they will remain without Kaoru Mitoma (ankle) and Jakub Moder (knee), while Adam Lallana and Joel Veltman (calf) remain doubts. As a result, Billy Gilmour and Tariq Lamptey could both come in as replacements to feature against their former side.

As for Chelsea, Potter once again made changes for their midweek Champions League clash with RB Salzburg and will be expected to do the same again for the trip to Brighton, although he will also remain without a number of players through injury.

Mateo Kovacic (calf) is now a doubt after being withdrawn in that 2-1 victory and Kalidou Koulibaly (knee) will also need to face a late fitness test. Reece James (knee), Wesley Fofana (knee) and N’Golo Kante (thigh) are ruled out, but Cesar Azpilicueta, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount should all return to the side.
