One of football's most surprising news stories in 2021 was when Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Rob McElhenney (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) teamed up to purchase the third-oldest professional football club in the world, Wrexham AFC, and now they're teaming up again to produce the docuseries Welcome to Wrexham, which documents the pair's attempts to revive the Welsh club.

The documentary will see Reynolds and McElhenney as they navigate running the historic yet struggling club, and how the purchase has impacted the community of the working-class town of Wrexham and those within the club itself.

The reality series highlights how the new owners know nothing about running a football club, and seemingly have no experience in managing a sports team, but will document the improvements they make to bring hope and change to the Dragons and those who support them.

WATCH WELCOME TO WREXHAM ON DISNEY+

Welcome to Wrexham has six episodes in total, with every episode releasing all at once on Disney+ in the UK on Thursday, August 25.

If you're not already a Disney+ subscriber, you can sign up for £7.99 a month or £79.90 for a full year.

Sadly, Disney+ doesn't offer a free trial, but you may be able to save some money if your mobile network is O2, which offers six months of Disney+ free as part of its selected Extras for upgrading or new customers.

If you're in the US, Welcome to Wrexham premiered on FX on August 24, but all episodes have been released on the FX on Hulu streaming service on August 25, so you can watch them all at once rather than weekly on TV if you want to binge the whole series.

Ryan Reynolds recently starred in the Netflix film The Adam Project, and is currently working on Deadpool 3 for a yet unannounced release date.

Rob McElhenney is most known for playing Mac in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which has been renewed up until season 18, making it the longest-running live-action US comedy series in TV history.

Welcome to Wrexham is out now on Disney+ in the UK and FX on Hulu in the US.
