Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford gives verdict on Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani partnership
Man Utd beat Tottenham 3-0 in the Premier League with goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford.

Marcus Rashford praised the finishing ability of Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani after the strike partners fired Manchester United to a much-needed win at Tottenham.

United eased the pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a 3-0 win in North London in which Ronaldo and Cavani were paired together in attack for the first time this season.

The experienced forwards showed their quality, netting a goal apiece before Rashford came on to put the icing on the cake with a late third goal.

Ronaldo's opener was a brilliant volley, playing on the last line of defence to get on the end of Bruno Fernandes' cross, before Ronaldo and Cavani linked up the second, with the Uruguayan producing a brilliant finish.

“Top finishes, Cristiano is always playing on the edge and the link-up play with Edi and a top finish from him is what we need from the forwards," Rashford told MUTV.

"I mentioned in the second half when it gets stretched the spaces will always be there and it’s about patience and that’s how I got my goal, hold your run, wait for the pass to come and be calm in front of goal."

Rashford's late goal made sure there would be no nervous moments in the closing stages and it was his third goal in four games since returning from shoulder surgery earlier this month.

“It’s a great feeling, at 2-0 the last 10 or 15 minutes it can be a nervous end if they get a goal so to get the goal eased a lot of pressure, but we stayed connected and tight and kept a clean sheet," he said.

United had faced a "difficult week" as Rashford described it but they recovered superbly from the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool and Rashford admitted the players had to work harder today.

"I mentioned how we lost it, it’s embarrassing and we’ve responded the only way we all know which is to put your head down and work hard," he said.

"We know we’ve got the ability to hurt teams but we have to work harder than we did against Liverpool and today we did that and got the result."
