James Maddison responds to Tottenham vs Leicester City washout

James Maddison came out to praise the Tottenham Hotspur fans after torrential rain meant that their clash with Leicester City was called off. The match was supposed to be the headline clash of their Thailand tour.

The clash would have seen Maddison face his old club after completing a move to the Londoners earlier in the summer. And the 26-year-old was quick to come out in support of fans who had travelled to see the game.

He said: “Obviously, very disappointed that the game got postponed today. We know how well supported we are here but the weather didn’t allow us to play.

"But a big thank you for even coming out and sitting in the rain waiting for the announcement. We really appreciate it.”

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglu was also quick to applaud those who came to show their support. The Australian has been busy dealing with the Harry Kane saga and would have wanted to get through this Thailand tour without any unnecessary obstacles.

He said: “Really disappointed with not being able to play the game tonight. The players, myself, we’re all really looking forward to it.

"We’ve had a great welcome here and obviously I know a lot of you have travelled far and wide to see the boys in action tonight. Unfortunately, the weather gods were not on our side tonight.”
