It’s nearly time for the Super Bowl 2021, one of the most watched sporting events around the world.

The Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL), pitting the champions of the NFL’s two conferences – American Football Conference (AFC) and National Football Conference (NFC) against each other.

Despite being American Football, fans across the world tune in for the Super Bowl (with UK viewers facing a late night to watch it live) – in part to see the A-list entertainment that goes with it. In previous years, Madonna, Beyonce, and Shakira and Jennifer Lopez have put on Half-Time shows, and this year The Weeknd has the honour.

There’ll also be a reading from Amanda Gorman, the poet who captured the world’s attention after appearing at Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Both teams competing – the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – have won the event before, but which team has claimed the most wins in history?

There are two teams tied with the most Super Bowl wins.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and the New England Patriots have both won the event six times.

Following with them five wins each are the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys.

Out of the two teams competing in the Super Bowl 2021, the Kansas City Chiefs have won twice, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have won it once.

The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl 2020, facing off against the San Francisco 49ers, so they could be looking at consecutive victories.

Which player has the most Super Bowl rings?

The winning teams get the The Vince Lombardi Trophy, but each individual player of the winning team receives a Super Bowl ring.

Tom Brady has more rings than any player in NFL history after winning a sixth championship in Super Bowl 53 in 2019.

Until his history-making sixth ring, the Patriots quarterback and husband to supermodel Gisele Bündchen was tied with linebacker Charles Haley — who won five Super Bowls in the late 1980s and 1990s — for the most rings in NFL history.
