Prince of Wales visits Sheffield meets homeless people
The Prince of Wales visited Sheffield and met some homeless people. He was accompanied by Aston Villa football player Tyrone Mings.
Prince William reached Belgrave and met people from the ‘Reach Up Youth’ project and talked to many homeless people. He also spoke to people at Verdon Center. Prince also met Sheffield Council Chief Executive Kate Josephs. Talking about the problem of homelessness, he said that it is a problem also for those who keep on ‘sofa surfing’ as they don’t have their own homes. He said it is also for those who sleep on the streets as they have nowhere to go.

Prince William also met Safiya Sayeed, who runs the charity, and discussed the issue with her. He also met Sheffield artist Leigh Redhead. Known as Trik09, the artist made a mural for Prince William. It was written ‘alone we can do so little; together we can do so much’ on it and it took three days to complete it.

The Prince was joined by youngsters who were wearing Reach Up Youth T-shirts. He also played basketball with them and took several attempts to score a point. He met three people, who were homeless before. He also met Osei Gabriel Gyansah who finds the right people for helping to find a home. Safiya informed the Prince that her charity helps those who come to them in a situation of being homeless or about to be homeless. She also said that there are many reasons behind homelessness from misunderstanding to lack of family support to exploitation. Safiya later said that she could not believe that the prince would visit her charity and meet the people in need. She called Prince William ‘amazing’ and a ‘humble gentleman’.
