Celtic missed out on a place in the Champions League last-16 despite a spirited and superb outing away from home against Bayern Munich.
The hosts led 2-1 after the first leg in Scotland but looked off the pace in a disjointed first half where they barely threatened Celtic’s goal and went into the break as the second best team.
Brendan Rodgers’ side had created plenty of decent chances but it was former Bayern man Nicolas Kuhn who sent the visitors ahead and looked like forcing the match to extra time.
With the Hoops now level on aggregate, Bayern piled on the pressure in the last 20 minutes and it was a substitute, Alphonso Davies, who provided the difference. With the last kick of the game, Davies arrived at the back post and turned home a rebound from Kasper Schmeichel after the goalkeeper kept out a headed effort from Leon Goretzka.
It was an incredible end to a fine match but Bayern Munich are the ones to progress.

FT Bayern 1-1 Celtic (3-2 agg)
Celtic have now won just two of their last 19 Uefa club competition matches against German teams (D4 L13) and are without a win in their previous 16 Uefa club competition matches away from home against sides from that country (D4 L12),

Celtic captain Callum McGregor reacts:
“Probably one of the cruellest [results in a Celtic jersey], the performance of the players, they gave about everything and pushed a really good Bayern side all of the way.
“Sometimes football’s cruel and you don’t get what you deserve but I have to say I’m so, so proud of the players and the way they played and handled themselves.
“We come off that pitch with no regrets. It’s a real, real sore win but I think we can be proud of ourselves.
“It was set up for us to try and nick the next one as well, and even if we had to go to extra time we fancied ourselves as well.
“I think anybody watching that game of football tonight would see a really good Celtic team."

'Celtic deserved more' says O'Neill
Former Celtic manager, Martin O'Neill, speaking on Prime Video:
“This is not biased, but I thought they were absolutely fantastic from start to finish
“Celtic should have at least gone through to extra time if nothing else. They were magnificent.”

Full-time! Bayern 1-1 Celtic (3-2 agg)
The whistle goes to end the match and the tie.
Celtic didn’t deserve that. They played spectacularly this evening but have been pipped at the last possible moment.
Bayern Munich go through. Thye win 3-2 on aggregate.

GOAL! Bayern 1-1 Celtic (3-2 agg) - Alphonso Davies, 90+4'
Heartbreak!
Alphonso Davies is in the right place at the right time.
Michael Olise puts the ball into the box and finds Leon Goretzka who sends a diving header at goal.
Kasper Schmeichel leaps to the left and palms the ball off the line.
It drops to Davies though who scrambles it into the back of the net!

90 mins: Four minutes of added time to play. Four minutes for one of these teams to steal a place in the last-16.
Can one of them do it?

87 mins: Another corner for Bayern sees the ball lifted high into the box.
Reo Hatate nods it out of play for a second corner.
Kimmich switches sides and curls this one towards the centre of the box. Stanisic rises and nods his effort over the bar.

Bayern 0-1 Celtic (2-2 agg)
84 mins: Bayern have certainly upped the tempo which is keeping Celtic camped inside their own half.
I can’t see a way for the visitors to get out at the minute. They’re clinging on.
