Israel: Al Jazeera shutdown is dangerous and wrong

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has joined its affiliate the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate (PJS) in condemning the Israeli government’s shutdown of Al Jazeera, and called for the broadcaster to be allowed to resume operations.

Freedom of the press is a fundamental right that should be upheld, regardless of political differences. Silencing a media outlet like Al Jazeera sets a dangerous precedent and threatens the principles of democracy and transparency.
